Pat Escatel, Opinion Editor & Columnist
Patricio (Pat) Escatel Jr. joined the IV Leader staff during Fall 2014 as part of an assignment requirement for his journalism class. Ever since he submitted his first column for the school paper, he developed a strong interest for the work. With each article written, Pat began to feel himself digging deeper into his mind to create more unique and philosophical pieces of literature than the last. He wrote regular columns for both Fall 2014 and Spring 2015, then took over as the opinion editor for the Fall 2015 semester. After receiving his Associate of Arts degree in December 2015, he plans to transfer to Northern Illinois University to complete his bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology and a minor in communications. Post-graduation, Pat intends to take the next step and go to graduate school with the goal of earning his doctorate degree. After finishing college, he plans to work as a psychologist. Pat is currently working at Woodforest National Bank, taking classes at Illinois Valley Community College, and of course working as an editor and writer for the IV Leader newspaper.
