Just over 25 percent of Illinois Val- ley Community College’s classes are taught by adjunct faculty, accordingto the Quick Facts information on thecollege’s web site.

Day in and day out, these commit- ted professionals provide instruction in the college classroom on the maincampus, at IVCC’s Ottawa Center,and at several high schools and otherlocations where IVCC offers its ser- vices.

It is a fact that no college can sur- vive today without its part-time fac- ulty.

For that reason, Local 1810 Amer- ican Federal of Teachers would like to underscore its support for our part- time teachers and counselors across our college community.

While forces of lower college en- rollments and questions of equitable pay rates commensurate with the stressful work of teaching are always areas of concern, Local 1810 stands with our adjunct colleagues and val- ues the tremendous work they do in IVCC classrooms.
