SAGE, Students Advocating Gender Equality, was recognized as a Golden Z club in an installation ceremony Tuesday, March 22 with members of the Zonta Clubs of LaSalle-Peru Area, Ottawa, and Streator attending.

The District Golden Z Chair, Janice Corrigan, officiated, and the Governor of District 6 of Zonta International bestowed the charter. The Area 5 Director (of District 6), which is the area the three local clubs are part of, was also in attendance.

SAGE is now SAGE of the Illinois Valley. The association with Zonta International will allow students dedicated to gender equality and willing to work to empower women to access more scholarship, conference, and advocacy opportunities.

SAGE is the student organization that puts purple ribbons on campus trees up for domestic violence awareness, sponsors and maintains the Diversitree, and helps sponsor Women’s History Month among other things.
