College Republicans, Democrats open to new members

Grace Spolec, IV Leader Staff Writer

The two college organizations representing political parties are looking for new members.

As of this year, the College Republicans group has a new adviser, Michael Pecherek. He sees the group as being student-ran, so the students have a voice and ways to express it. Students can gather, share topics and news they have heard, as well as invite other Republicans to come to IVCC and speak. The club is seeking members who are calm, truthful, and ready to listen to other people, he said.

To get involved contact Pecherek at [email protected], (815) 224-0430, or in D-216.

College Democrats also is seeking new members. This club participates in a variety of things, such as helping with campaigns, attending local dinners, sponsoring debates, and inviting people to the campus to speak. Even if you are unfamiliar with politics, this club welcomes new members. Students gather to learn and express their ideas and views.

To get involved contact faculty adviser Mike Phillips at [email protected], (815) 224-0394 or in B-317.
