A Cure For The Quarantine Blues

Chloe Garkey, Staff Writer

During this time of self-isolation, it can be difficult to keep yourself entertained. IVCC students and many members of the community are getting creative when it comes to distracting themselves from boredom. Here is a list of five creative ways to keep things interesting at your own house.

  1. Change your appearance
    1. Hair dye is readily available on Amazon and grocery stores near you. Adding a fun color to your hair can be a perfect way to brighten your day.
  2. Themed dinner parties with your family
    1. Regular family dinners can become repetitive. Add a theme to your dinner and have everyone in your house dress up. For example, you could do a Hollywood themed night where everyone in your family wears their best red carpet attire.
  3. Netflix party
    1. Binge-watching movies or tv shows during quarantine is pretty common during quarantine, but do you know how to spice up this activity? Netflix Party! Netflix Party makes long-distance movie nights possible by synchronizing the playback of your favorite shows or movies and adds a group chat feature so you can discuss it with your friends.
  4. Move your furniture around
    1. Moving your furniture around may seem like a meaningless task, but it can have many benefits! Not only will the new placement of furniture give your space a new feel and feng shui, but it also doubles as a strength workout. This task also forces you to tidy up your space and declutter.
  5. Social distancing game night
    1. With the website playingcards.io on google, you can choose one out of a multitude of card games and play live with your friends. All you have to do is search the web page, choose the card game, send the access link to your group chat, and enjoy some friendly competition while facetiming and playing cards.
