The eagles volleyball team has started the season 1-5 as of press time. The team has only one sophomore — Putnam County’s Sophie Harris — on the roster as Coach Erin Polte rebuilds the team that graduated several players from last season.

Thus far in the season, Harris and freshman Ella Sibert from Woodland High School lead the team in kills with 39 and 42, respectively. Freshman Erica Antle, the team’s setter, leads in assists. Antle and freshman Grace Landers lead the team in service aces. Other players on the roster include Payton Giordano, Zofia Uzella, Brea Konwinski, Taylor Wetzel, Holly Shriner, Lexie Marquez, Libby Boyles, and Cassidy Antle.

The Eagles picked up a win in their opening contest on Aug. 19 vs. Mesabi Range in an opening weekend tournament in Rockford. Upcoming home contests include Sept. 13 vs. Highland and Sept. 20 against Black Hawk. Both games begin at 6 p.m. in the IVCC gymnasium.
