The IVCC men’s baseball team returned from their spring trip to South Carolina ready to open the season March 19 at home vs Rockford JV.

The IVCC Eagles men’s baseball team headed into the 2015 spring season with high expectations for the year.

The team plays its home opener 4 p.m. Friday, March 19 at Dickinson Field in Oglesby against Rockford JV.

“[We] want to have a good year,” says team captain Logan Pifer. “Everyone wants to win nationals and really win as many games as we can.”

He added, “My goals for the team this year are to be well above .500, compete in every game, win, and have a great time with all the team.”

The team is returning 14 sophomores who will look to take up leadership roles. The added impact of six freshmen players should add depth to an already formidable Eagles roster.

This is the second year for coach Jason Goode who also has assistants Lenny Newell, Phil Huchel, and Jim Harsted on his staff.
The team returned from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and their annual spring trip March 7-10. The Eagles played six games in four days and finished 5-1.
The spring trip is important for the team as it allows players to compete and build team chemistry.
