The Lady Eagles softball team had a see-saw effort in April, trading wins and losses to bring their overall record to 15-14.
They split the opening doubleheader on April 3 at Carl Sandburg College, winning the first game 1-0 and losing the second 3-1. Another conference doubleheader against Kishwaukee College on April 5 had a more somber result, losing both games 4-1 and 6-2 at home.
The Lady Eagles then trounced Highland College on April 10 at home 14-1 and 15-0. The team travelled next to Sauk Valley where they lost both games 8-5 and 5-4.
The East/West Tournament in Freeport had some great results as IVCC started off with big wins against Moraine Valley 13-5 and Waubonsee 7-1. They carried the momentum into the final day of the tournament on April 15 against Elgin 10-0 and South Suburban 14-0.
Returning from the tournament, the Lady Eagles found their stride and continued their strong performance, defeating Carl Sandburg at home on April 17 6-2 but losing the second game 6-4.The team travelled to Kishwaukee on April 19 and lost both games 8-7, 8-7
Statistically, Samantha Riss leads the team with a .452 batting average in 42 at-bats and two home runs. Molly Muntz is batting .400 with a home run and Katie Nauman rounds out the top three with a .318 mark. Lindsay Schmitz leads the team with two home runs, 10 RBIs, and 11 runs scored overall.
Nauman has also been superb on the mound, winning 7 games on 34 innings pitched and a 2.39 ERA. She also leads the team in strikeouts with 34.
Regional playoffs will begin on May 1, with the Region IV finals being played on May 4 and 5.

Currently a Journalism major at Illinois Valley Community College, Josh is a self-defined sports nut who might follow and analyze what he likes a little too much. He plans to transfer to Western Illinois University in the fall after graduating from IVCC in the summer.
He also served as the color commentator for Hall Red Devil football on 99.3 WAJK over the fall season alongside Mike Barrie.
