Welcoming a new trustee and Spirit Day updates

Madison Miranda

Hello fellow Eagles! Student Trustee Madison here.

I hope you all have been having a good semester so far. Can you believe it’s been a month already?

Currently in the works, we are still discussing Spirit Day for this year. Hopefully, we can put some events and activities together that comply with COVID-19 precautions the college is taking.

Cory Tommason and my fellow SGA representatives are working hard to give students a fun kick off to the school year. Keep a lookout for more information about Spirit Day!

I also have an exciting update to share regarding the Board of Trustees. Sadly, Trustee David Mallery has resigned, leaving his spot vacant for the remainder of his term.

Recently, we held interviews with some truly amazing candidates and were able to narrow it down to appoint a new member to the board of trustees!

Although it was a hard decision, we all believe that we chose the best person that brings both a new perspective and unique background to the board.

Our new Trustee is William “Bill” F. Hunt who was appointed at a special board meeting held on Sept. 2. We are very excited to work with him!

As a reminder, we hold meetings once on the second Tuesday of every month. There, we discuss a variety of topics and always leave room for others to speak when they attend these meetings.
