In recognition of Women’s History Month, IVCC’s very own Dr. Kimberly Radek Hall shared her perspective on why this month is so special and what one can learn.
Hall, a teacher of women’s and gender studies, said that “National Women’s History Month is typically and officially recognized as a month dedicated to the idea of women’s experiences and contributions.”
When asked if she remembered learning about women’s history in school, Hall shared she was not informed in school but recalled women she admired, such as “Roosevelt Franklin” and “Marie Curie,” for their hard work and dedication to science.
She explained that acknowledging women’s contributions is so significant.
From women’s contributions, one can learn how they have influenced the world we live in today, building foundations that continue to impact everyday life.
As an educator, Hall expressed that people should continue learning about women beyond one month, sharing that education ensures that women’s contributions are recognized and included in history.
