Angela Doermann was hired as the CNA Instructor in fall 2025.
Where are you from originally?
Grew up in Marseilles and then moved to Ottawa for the last 30 years.
Where did you attend college and what degree do you hold?
IVCC and Associates Degree in Nursing and Train the Trainer.
What classes or positions are you currently assigned?
I teach the CNA program at IVCC. Lecture, Lab and clinicals.
Are you new to teaching? If not, where did you teach before IVCC?
Yes, this is my first official teaching position.
What are your initial impressions, not only of the students, but also the atmosphere at IVCC, and your fellow faculty and staff?
My first impression of IVCC has been very positive. The students are motivated, respectful, and eager to learn. The atmosphere at IVCC is welcoming and supportive, with a strong focus on student success. Fellow faculty and staff have been approachable, collaborative, encouraging and willing to help make it a great environment to teach and grow professionally.
So far, what is your favorite aspect of IVCC?
My favorite aspect of IVCC so far is the strong sense of support and collaboration. Students genuinely want to succeed, and faculty and staff are always willing to help, share resources, and work together to support student learning. It creates a positive and encouraging environment to teach in.
What is your favorite thing about the Illinois Valley area?
My favorite thing about the Illinois Valley area is that we are able to offer students this opportunity of education so close to home. This is life changing for so many individuals.
What should a student know about you?
I am a mother of four children: three boys and one girl and I have a granddaughter. I love spending time with my family. I enjoy watching movies, swimming, and going to Disney World. I have been a RN for 10 years and love working in education. Teaching and helping people is my passion. I am very excited to be working with students at IVCC.
