On Saturday, November 15th, IV Leader partnered with Illinois Valley Animal Rescue (IVAR) to host Flapjack Fundraiser, an all-you-can-eat flapjack fundraiser held at Applebee’s in Peru. From 8 to 10 a.m., community members stopped in for a $10 unlimited pancake breakfast, with all proceeds directly benefiting IVAR and the animals in their care.
Along with breakfast, guests had the opportunity to participate in multiple giveaways. Attendees who purchased raffle tickets were entered to win baskets donated by local sponsors, including PetSmart, Chewy, and IVAR staff. Community members who brought pet-related donations, such as food, treats, toys, or cleaning supplies, were entered into a separate drawing for gift cards to local businesses, including Lil’ Bella’s Pizza, Mr. Sparkle Auto Spa, and The Dog House.

Applebee’s generously provided the space and meal service at no cost, ensuring that every dollar raised went straight to IVAR. Throughout the morning, IV Leader students assisted with seating, serving, and collecting donations. Their goal for the project was to use promotional media, event planning, and community outreach to help raise both funding and awareness for local animals in need.
