Graduation applications due Feb. 16

IV Leader Staff

Are you ready to graduate at the end of the spring semester? If you think that you might be eligible for a degree or certificate, you must apply for graduation in order to have it posted to your academic record and to receive a diploma, according to IVCC admissions and records staff.

The deadline to apply for Spring graduation is Tuesday, Feb. 16. There is no fee to apply for graduation, but there is a one-page online form to complete. This form is available on the college website at www.ivcc.edu/graduation and in the Counseling office (CTC 202). The form takes a few minutes to complete and lets the school know that you plan to graduate in May.  Applying for graduation is not the same as agreeing to participate in the commencement ceremony.  Participating in the commencement ceremony is optional.

If you are unsure as to whether or not you are eligible at this time for a degree or certificate, you are encouraged to speak with a counselor (815-224-0360). A counselor can review your academic record and program of study to determine if you have all the requirements to graduate. Another option to determine your eligibility is to review your degree audit on your personal WebAdvisor account.

If you are within two classes of graduation and you plan to complete those classes in the summer session, you can participate in the commencement ceremony in May. All you need to do is fill out a graduation application by Feb. 16 and check Summer graduate but want to walk in May ceremony option on the form. Please note that this spring graduation will be virtual again like last year.

At IVCC, there are a number of Associate in Applied Science degrees that have corresponding certificates you can earn along the way. If you think that you have the requirements fulfilled for a certificate, you may want to apply for graduation so your academic record will show your progress toward your degree.

IVCC has one commencement ceremony at the college, which will be held virtually on Saturday, May 22. All students who have graduated in the past year are invited to participate in the commencement ceremony. Detailed information will be provided soon.

Any questions about graduation can be directed to Karen Gregorich in the Counseling office at 815-224-0444.
