College support staff aid YSB, foster children

Illinois Valley Community College support staff recently completed a “Sweet Cases” service project with a decorating party and potluck. Each year employees contribute to a charitable cause or give back to the community.

This year, the focus was on children entering foster care.

Money was raised to purchase 26 duffle bags and supplies for each including a teddy bear, blanket, hygiene kit, coloring book, and crayons.

Employees decorated each bag with a personal touch. Sue Trost of Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley attended the party and accepted the bags to be used for central Illinois children entering foster care.

“The project was an extremely positive experience and we were thrilled to partner with Youth Service Bureau,” said IVCC project coordinator Jeanette Frahm.
