Illinois Valley Community College Cyber Café which opened Jan. 19, 2016, has officially closed its doors.

The Cyber Café was a small café located inside of IVCC near the main lobby corridor and served snacks, hot coffee and other drinks to students.

The Cyber Café was forced to close because sales have been slow and inconsistent, according to IVCC president Jerry Corcoran.

IVCC’s administration hopes this will not be the end of the Cyber Café.

Corcoran discussed the issue with with Country Catering officials and Cory Tomasson, Student Government Association advisor and coordinator of student activities.

“Both have agreed to explore a new partnership that could involve the Student Government Association while capitalizing on our many strengths,” said Corcoran.

One student is shocked by the closing of the Cyber Café. “I went to the Café almost every day to get coffee,” says Elizabeth Peruba, IVCC freshman. “It’s very sad that they had to close.”

Corcoran hopes to have a new-and-improved model of the Cyber Café ready to go as soon as possible.
