FAFSA completion workshops available
Illinois Valley Community College’s Financial Aid Office will host a series of FAFSA completion workshops in January and February.
Main campus sessions are in E 214 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14.
Ottawa Center sessions are 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
Counselors will assist students in completing the 2015-16 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Participants should bring a copy of their 2014 federal tax return or copies of all student and parent W-2 forms (if available) and information on student and parent savings and investments.
Dependent students should bring a copy of their parents’ 2014 federal tax return or W-2 forms (if available) and know their parents’ dates of birth and the date of marriage, separation or divorce.
Because of an anticipated early deadline to be considered for the ISAC MAP Grant, students are encouraged to submit FAFSAs by Feb. 15. Students and parents may use estimated information if tax information is not yet available.
Prior to the workshop, students and parents need to go to www.fafsa.gov and apply for a PIN number. Financial Aid counselors will review and help finalize applications.
Beginning in March, appointments may be made on main campus by contacting Financial Aid at (815) 224-0438.
Evening assistance is available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
