SGA elections feature three contested races

IV Leader Staff

IVCC students will decide contests for student trustee and Student Government Association president and vice president during elections Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11 on the main campus and in the Ottawa Center.

Competing for president are Tiernan Ebener and Christian Bender while Brianna Huss and Abbey Nowakowski are seeking the vice president position. The two students seeking the chance to represent the student body through a seat on the IVCC Board of Trustees are Amy Rogowski and Danae Ross.

Sophomore Lindsay Gerding is running unopposed for the SGA secretary position.

Those positions may be filled by write-in votes at the general election or students could be recruited for those positions following the election. Those who want additional information about serving on Student Government should contact Cory Tomasson, adviser, via email at [email protected]

Voting times will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11. There will be voting at the Ottawa Center.

Candidates were asked to fill out a profile sheet for publication in the newspaper. The following candidates submitted information.

Why are you seeking office? It seems like a great experience to better the lives of my fellow classmates and create a better experience for future IV students.

Danae Ross

Why are you seeking office? I would love to get more involved at IVCC and with the local school area because I want to get to know more of the people I go to school with and help them out as much as the school and previous officers have already helped me. I think IVCC is a great place to get started or to get more education, and I want to contribute in any way that I can because I appreciate all of the opportunities the school provides at such a good price and in a good area.

What are your goals, if elected? I am excited to take part in the board meetings and be able to hear the issues that the school and students are dealing with so that I can be a voice for them and try to help make things the way that they would like them. I also hope, as a part of the student government, to meet more people and help them in any way that I can to make their experience at IVCC one that they will enjoy and will benefit and prepare them for their future career.
