Three freshmen elected to SGA positions

IVCC freshmen Stephanie Vera of Spring Valley (from left), Tiernan Ebener of Peru, and Christian Bender of Oglesby were recently elected to Student Government Association positions. Vera was elected freshman representative and Bender and Ebener to the freshman programming board.

The Illinois Valley Community College Student Government Association had freshman elections on Oct. 3 & 4. There were a total of 71 ballots cast
during the elections.

Stephanie Vera won the position of the Freshman Representative with 59 votes. Freshman representatives
are a part of the Executive Branch which meets weekly to discuss concerns that deal with the entire student body and organize activities for the students.

Christian Bender and Tiernan Ebener won the positions of Freshman Programming Board. Bender
with 60 votes and Ebener with 56 votes

“We are very pleased that we had people running for each of these open positions” said Cory Tomasson. “I have met with these individuals, and I think that they will do a great job representing the students of IVCC. We now have every position
filled on the SGA, and we are in the process of establishing and working on our year-long goals”.
