Running club seeks new members
IVCC’s runing club is looking for new members.
The running club is a group where runners of all abilities, from beginner to pro, can get together. They participate in events such as preparing for a 5k and training for half or full marathon. Anyone interesteed is welcome.

IVCH Walk-In Flu and Pneumonia Clinic
The IVCH Walk-In Flu and Pneumonia Immunization clinic will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Rooms C 325 and C 326. Cost of the flu vaccination is $25. Cost of the pneumonia vaccination is $75 and requires a doctor’s order.
Medicare Part B assignment is accepted. You must be 18 or older to participate. For additional information, call (815) 780-4618.

Diversity Team to hold events
Illinois Valley Community College’s Diversity team will host religious diversity programming this fall at the college.
“Paganism and Catholicism will be presented by psychology instructor Betsy Klopcic from noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 in Rooms C 325 and C 326.
“Karma” will be presented by English instructor Koshu Jagasia from noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 in Room C 316.
English instructor Mark Brown delivered the first program in the series. He discussed the Mormon religion.

IVCC to Host 40th Annual College Night
Approximately 50 colleges and universities will be represented at Illinois Valley Community College’s 40th annual College Night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the gymnasium.
High school and college students, parents and community members will have the opportunity to speak to college and university representatives about the admission process.
IVCC faculty, staff and program coordinators will also be available to provide information about the opportunities available at IVCC as well as options for transfer.
Jeffrey Good from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will present a financial aid session from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 7  p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in room C-316 on the Main Campus.

IVCC debuts new text service
IVCC invites all its students and community members to join its new “MYIVCC” VIP Text Club.
Club members will receive breaking campus news, critical deadline reminders and special campus event alerts. Members will also be entered into a monthly drawing for a $25 IVCC Bookstore gift card or gas card just for signing up.
“It’s a convenient way for students and area residents to receive reminders and notices to attend campus presentations and events that are of interest to them and also to be informed of services available here at the college,” said Fran Brolley, director of community relations and development.
To join, members can opt in by texting to 36000 and typing MYIVCC in the message.
This is not meant to replace the emergency text alert students would receive from Student Services that will alert them of inclement weather closures or emergency situations. For information, call (815) 224-0465.
