Streator student wins graphic design prize

Illinois Valley Community College graphic design student Helen E. Krieger, of Streator, won second place in the post-secondary division of the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation 2012 Student Design Competition. Krieger received an official notification and was awarded a $1,500 check prize.
“This is indeed a notable accomplishment,” said Eileen D. Cassidy, GAERF director.
There were 176 entries; 119 secondary entries and 57 post-secondary entries. Entries were judged in a two-part process conducted by GAERF employees and GAERF board members.
Krieger’s submission will be featured in a special display during GRAPH EXPO 2012 Oct. 7 – 10 on Education Main Street at the McCormick Place exhibition center in Chicago.
Representatives from 14 colleges, universities and educational organizations will provide information on curriculum offerings, scholarships and internships at the event.
In addition, Helen’s entry will be showcased on both the GAERF website at www.gaerf.org and at www.graphicCOMMcentral.org.
Cassidy credited IVCC graphic design program coordinator Francie Skoflanc, “for her continued passion, dedication and commitment to education.”
