August 27, 2020
The Peanut Butter Falcon, by directors Tyler Nilson and Michael Scwartz, is an old-fashioned, feel-good, adventure that asks the question: What is family?
Tyler, played by Shia LaBeouf, is struggling with the death of his brother and searching for his place in the world, when he gets into trouble with locals and is forced to go on the run. He meets up with Zak, played by Zack Gottsagen, who is a young man diagnosed with Down syndrome and on the run from a state nursing home where he was placed.
They team up and decide to travel together, harried and followed by the locals and a representative of the nursing home named Eleanor, played by Dakota Johnson.
As they travel through the swamps and rivers, Zak and Tyler find adventure, interesting people, and forge a bond that both had been searching for. This film has an excellent combination of humor, excitement, and real life heart-ache.
This film is currently available to stream on Sling TV, Hulu, and Amazon.
