Jacob Kinsella, IV Leader Columnist

If you are looking for a film that will deliver heartfelt moments or important life lessons then this film is the wrong choice for you. If, however, you are searching for a two-hour, CGI packed film that delivers on the promise of the title then you have come to the right place. What started out as a promising story concerning the origins of these megalithic creatures by exploring the hollow earth theory ended up as a lackluster story with a predictable, albeit fun to watch, ending.

In this film a half-baked storyline takes a backseat to the visual extravaganza that is a massive lizard fighting with a giant gorilla. This is what monster movies were made for. They were not made to deliver beautiful stories, although they can. They were meant to dazzle us with special effects and expand our imagination. This film does just that, delivering on the promise of monster movies that came before it and setting the bar for future films of the genre.

This film was directed by Adam Wingard and stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Rebecca Hall.
