IV Leader wins awards at journalism conference

IV Leader staff members display some of the awards won at the April 4-5 journalism conference at Moraine Valley Community College.

The IV Leader staff walked away with 16 total awards at the Illinois Community College Journalism Association Conference on April 4-5.

The student newspaper won second place in layout, headlines, and in the Mike Foster Overall Excellence category.

Individual awards included:

Kyle Russell, Photo Editor: First place sports photo, first place news photo, first place photo spread, second place news photo, and third place sports photo.

Brent Bader, Lead Editor: Second place news story and honorable mention in arts feature.

Abney Bernardini, Arts Editor: Third place feature writing.

Joe Frye, Sports Editor: Second place sports column.

Saralyn Simpson, staff: Second place sports feature.

Brandon Urbance, sports staff: First place sports column

Jessie Winchel, IV Leader Opinion Editor: Third place editorial.

Megan Winkler, staff: First place sports feature.
