IVCC names first ever soccer coaches
April 7, 2016
Illinois Valley Community College today announced the hiring of its first men’s and women’s soccer coaches: Tim Cottingim for the men and Ed Young Jr. for the women.
Cottingim is a former assistant men’s coach at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove and former head coach at Earlville-Leland High School. He attended IVCC and is pursuing an online bachelor’s in psychology.
Young has headed Princeton High School’s girls’ soccer team the past 15 years. He earned an associate in criminal justice from IVCC and is pursuing a bachelor’s in legal studies from the University of Illinois-Springfield.
“Athletic Director Cory Tomasson and I are very pleased to add quality coaches like Ed Young and Tim Cottingim to our staff. Ed’s teams have qualified for the IHSA state championship series twice during his tenure and his players are known for playing the game respectfully,” said IVCC Associate Vice President for Student Services Mark Grzybowski.
“Tim starred and coached at Earlville High prior to becoming a volunteer assistant coach at Waubonsee,” said Grzybowski. “He is active with club soccer and has a genuine passion for the game. Like Ed, his teams have the reputation of playing the game cleanly.”
Both coaches’ contracts start July 1 and IVCC’s inaugural soccer seasons begin in August.
