IVCC Eagles lost their last three games, weakening their stance in the conference.

Each loss came from a conference opponent, the first being Carl Sandburg (15-13). The Eagles were ahead nearly the whole first half, led by scorers Nathan Helle with 11 and Jens Soderholm with 13. Carl Sandburg then took the lead in the second half and held it until the final minute where Helle tied the game with just over a minute left. Carl Sandburg took the lead right back until IVCC’s Ricky Calvin hit a jump shot with 26 seconds left that sent the game into overtime.

Carl Sandburg took the lead in the first minute of overtime and kept it for the rest of the game.
The Eagles then lost to Blackhawk Moline 77-82 with Chris Lemon and Anthony Carothers combining for 33 of the Eagles 77 points.

The Eagles then went on the road to Malta to face off against Kishwaukee. The Kougars out rebounded the Eagles 47 to 28 which led to nine more second chance points. That ended up being more than the difference as the Eagles lost 83-76.

The Eagles are now 3-7 in the conference with an overall record of 12-16, as of the date of publication. There are only two games left before post season play begins where the Eagles will most likely play a qualifying game on Feb 23.

The Eagles have struggled on the road with a record of 1-11. “We have been out rebounded in most of our losses, and we seem to lose focus and at times do not have proper understanding of clock, score and shot selection,” said Coach Chris Herman about the road losses.

Top performers for the Eagles this year have been sophomore Chris Lemon with 13 ppg and freshman Ricky Calvin with 12 ppg and 7 rpg.
