IVCC Lady Eagles take momentum into post season

The IVCC Lady Eagles softball team finished the regular season with a record of 20-8 overall and a 14-4 Arrowhead Conference record.

The team’s regular season finale was Friday April 24 against Highland. The Eagles would win the game 12-0 in five innings.
Lady Eagles pitcher Tracy Ellis tossed a no-hitter with a masterful performance.

After starting off the season in Clermont, Fla. for their annual spring trip, the Lady Eagles came back to the IV ready to show teams that they have the potential to compete in the National Tournament.

After returning from Florida, the team started the regular season with an eight game winning streak to open the season. Including a 6-0 Arrowhead Conference record.

The IVCC softball team learned Saturday that they recieved the No. 2 seed for the Region IV Tournament and will play host to Highland at 1 p.m. Tuesday April 28 in a best-of-three first-round series.

The team has had rampant success againsat Highland this season including winning three games by a combined score of 44-4.
The team knows not to take anything for granted though. “The other teams are hungry, just because we beat them during the regular season doesn’t mean we can sleep on them during Regionals,” IVCC catcher Chrissy Pond stated. “We have to go into each match with the mindset of giving it our all and leaving it all on the field.”

If the Eagles advance they will move on to the Regional tournament finals which will be held on May 1-2 in Freeport at Read Field.

The National Tournament will be held May 12-16 in Clinton, Miss.
