IVCC basketball signs three
The IVCC men’s basketball team has signed three key players for the upcoming season. Point guard Floyd “Terrance” Campbell, of Anderson, Ind., power forward Ian Carlson of Belvidere and Bloom Township’s Mickhiell Harris will join the Eagles for the 2015-2016 season.
Campbell was a redshirt at IVCC this year. He graduated from Liberty Christian High School in Anderson in 2013 and played at Ancilla College in Donaldson, Ind., in 2013-14.
“I am proud of the opportunity to play here and I plan to make the most of it,” said Campbell. “I want to thank the Liberty Christian staff and head coach Jason Chappell for helping me achieve this opportunity.”
Carlson graduated from Belvidere High School in 2013 and attended Sauk Valley Community College before moving to Colorado.
He was a four-year starter at Belvidere and played on both sides of the line for the Buccaneers football team.
“He’s a tough, hard-nosed kid who can plug up the paint,” said Herman. “With his attitude he’ll be a ‘glue guy’ for us.”
Herman also commented on Harris’ size and athleticism.
“He loves to operate on the baseline and can finish above the rim. He comes from a program that stresses hard man-to-man defense and he is effective in the open court. Mickhiell is a quiet kid who I anticipate will blossom at IVCC.”
The Eagles return second team All-Arrowhead guard Jens Soderholm, Harold Fay, Austin O’Sadnick and Nathan Helle.
