Tennis takes the court
The IVCC men’s tennis team takes the court on Friday, March 20 to start the spring 2015 season. They will take on Elgin at Hanover Park at 2 p.m. and, according to sophomore David Dobrose, expectations are high: “We are excited about the talent of our team and think we can go far this season.”
The team has been practicing at various locations to prepare for the season and is proud of the growth and chemistry the team has created. “We are excited for nationals in Tyler, Texas,” Dobrose added.
The Eagles add three new players to the ranks this year, including Alex Koziel of Ottawa, Gustavo Lozada of Peru, Max Uhle and Zachary Giovanine of La Salle-Peru.
“Our team gets along really well, we have a lot of fun and I think we have a shot at winning a lot of matches this year,” Dobrose said.
Returning players David Dobrose, Race Melvin, and Brock Dodge are looking forward to working with the new players and growing together as a team.
Since they know each other from playing aginst each otherin high school, the players said that will help them to get along and play together as a team.
Head coach Julie Milota added, “Our team has talent and works hard and those are key for a successful season.”
The Eagles season will run through April with the Division II National Tournament taking place at Collin Community College in Tyler, Texas May 9-15.
