March Madness is here and in a couple weeks we will have a national champion for the 2013-2014 season.
The fun started with seeing some heavily favored teams upset in conference tournaments, and teams with quality wins getting a chance to make the NCAA tournament field.
Some teams who don’t play in power conferences had to win the conference tournament to make the NCAA tournament.
One example of a team on the bubble in a power conference was the University of Nebraska, which had a better chance of making the tournament than a team like Wisconsin- Green Bay, which plays in a mid major conference and didn’t have a lot of quality wins.
The Cornhuskers got a tournament bid while Wisconsin Green Bay had to wait to see if they got an invite to the NIT, which has less prestige than the big dance.
Then, all the teams all had to wait for their school name to be called to go play in the big tournament.
The NCAA Tournament started with the play in games starting on March 18-19.
After that, it’s all up in there air and anything can happen in the NCAA tournament.
The only thing that matters is holding up a trophy at end of the national championship on April 7 and getting the chance to have one shining moment on the national stage.
