The IVCC Lady Eagles have kept up their great pace the last two weeks and have racked up numbers in the win column.
As of press time, the Lady Eagles are 19-9 overall and have a 7-3 conference record.
The team kicked off their latest play with a 2-2 finish in the Harper Tournament dropping back-to-back games to Waubonsee and Marshalltown on the first day, but then winning two straight by taking down Oakton and John A. Logan.
They headed to Black Hawk on Sept 24, winning in four sets 20-25; 25-20; 25-7 and 26-24 Marquette graduate Jessica Jessen led the team with 14 points and 25 digs. Outside hitter Sarah Lushina was a menace with 16 kills.
The very next day the Lady Eagles headed back home, but only to be disappointed as they lost to Kishwaukee in five sets 25-23; 25-15; 25-27; 25-27 and 15-17.
Sophomore Johnna Schultz, a Hall product, tallied 33 assists while Ottawa graduate Lisa Lukkari added 24 assists along with 13 points.
After a short break the team hopped on the bus and went to Highland where they found an easy win 25-16; 25-10 and 25-20.
Schultz and Lushina were at it again. Schultz had 16 assists while Lushina added eight kills. St. Bede product Kayla MacDavitt was a stat-sheet-stuffer; with 19 points, seven kills and five blocks.
On the heels of another back-to-back campaign, the Lady Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to Sauk Valley in five sets 20-25; 25-23; 20-25; 25-21 and 13-15. Schultz had 24 assists and 10 points while Sam Walker had 14 points.
The volleyball team held their annual Dig Pink game night on Oct. 8, which supports the fight against breast cancer and won a huge match vs. Black Hawk East 25-17; 25-12; 23-25; 25-16 and on the very next night won at Carl Sandburg 25-23; 14-25; 25-21 and 25-22.
The Lady Eagles wrap up their home season with sophomore night on Tuesday, Oct. 22 with a match vs. conference opponent Black Hawk College.
The team will play in its regional tournament in November and make a run for the national tournament.
