The IVCC Lady Eagles won their game against Carl Sandbug 56-47 to continue their undefeated streak in the Arrowhead Conference.
Lady Eagles’ head coach Pat Cinotte sent out a revamped starting lineup this game, with Haley Phelps, Christina Hilstock, and Alycia Welch jumping into the game at the beginning.
Welch led the team in scoring, putting up 14 points. Emma Darby followed with 12, Jo Nash had 11, and Julie Haye also finished in double figures with 11.
Darby stepped in admirably for Sheila Klieber, who left the game with an ankle injury in the first half. Her status is day-to-day, but Cinotte wouldn’t be surprised if she was practicing Friday afternoon.
Cinotte said, “My guess would be a week or two, but she’s a very tough person. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her in practice [Friday]. We shook up the starting lineup a bit to keep people fresh and focused. I would hope that our depth would pay off and keep fresh legs on the court all game.”
The win ups the team’s conference record to 5-0. Their next game is at Illinois Central College on Saturday Jan. 28. The next home contest is versus Kishwaukee College on Feb. 7.
