Hello, IVCC students! I hope everyone is enjoying the first few weeks of the semester. I would like to re-introduce myself, I am Amy Rogowski, your 2014-2015 student trustee.
It’s my job to be the voice of the student body to the IVCC Board of Trustees. The board and I are often called upon to make decisions regarding the future of the college. With that said, it’s important to hear and understand the student’s point of view.
If you ever have any questions, ideas, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to talk to me! I can be found in the student government office
which is located in the cafeteria. If you can’t find me there, you can
reach me through email at [email protected] and I’d always
be willing to set up a time to meet with you!
It’s a very exciting year to be an Eagle! Our school is celebrating its
90th birthday. Our school has come a long way from the first day in 1924. La Salle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College began with 32 freshmen, seven instructors, and two administrators.
This year, during spirit week (Sept.15-19) we will be hosting a
small celebration which will include a few speakers, tours of the new CTC building, and cake all starting at noon.
Also, during that week is one of my favorite days of the year: Spirit
Day!
All of the student organizations will have booths with information
available in the court yard. There will be games, pizza, music, and a
few more surprises you will have to attend to see that day!
Similar to everything in college, the day is what you make of it. You
can have a great day by taking advantage of all that our school has to
offer or you can just eat some pizza and go home! My suggestion for
Spirit Day and the entire school year: GET INVOLVED! Spirit day will
help you see how many different clubs we have to offer here at IVCC.
I hope to hear from many of you with comments and questions soon!
I’ll continue to write more articles throughout the year to keep the student body updated! Let’s have a great semester! See you at Spirit Day!
