As the fall semester of 2012 reaches the end, the season of giving just begins!
Through the holidays, I would like to remind everyone to always think of others and the less fortunate.
Recently, our Student Government Association collected donations at the school to fill shoe boxes with different items. These shoe boxes were then sent to children around the world so they would receive something during the holidays. I would like to personally thank all of you for your generous donations!
This past month I attended the Illinois Community College Board- Student Advisory Committee meetings in Chicago. These meetings consist of discussions over issues and topics throughout all Illinois Community Colleges.
I am involved in the Outreach Subcommittee, which is the state-wide service project, focusing on Anti-Bullying and Anti-Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
Throughout the spring semester, the focus will be to provide awareness throughout our campus and raise money to donate to the Lady Gaga, “Born This Way” Bullying Foundation.
Be sure to keep your eye out for events related to this topic.
I cannot emphasis enough how important it is for students to engage in the colleges activities and stay involved. I am always available to address your issues or concerns at or in the Student Government office.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!!
