Welcome to Fall Semester 2012!
As IVCC’s 2012-2013 Student Trustee, my duty is to be the representative of the student body to the College Board. I attend the board meetings each month addressing the suggestions and concerns of the student body.
I am in my sophomore year at IVCC and a Communication Science and Disorders major. I will be transferring to Western Illinois University next fall.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or in the student government office with any questions or concerns.
This past weekend, I attended the ICCB-SAC meeting in Springfield. This is a student group that reports to the Illinois Community College Board, the governing group for all community colleges.
This amazing experience better prepares me for IVCC’s board meetings and also gives me the opportunity to work with other Student Trustees within Illinois. I became a part of the OUTREACH committee, which puts together a fundraiser for a certain cause.
This year we will be raising money and awareness for Suicide Awareness and Anti-Bullying.
Therefore, throughout the year all the community colleges through Illinois will participate in this state-wide fundraiser, including IVCC.
Along with this fundraiser, the Student Government Association has currently been planning individual goals, which will result in events and fundraisers throughout the year for local charities.
The Student Government Association was very excited to see how successful Spirit Day turned out. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a great kick-off for the school year.
I encourage all students to participate in the organizations and activities IVCC has to offer.
It is a great way to become engaged within the college and result in an overall better experience!
