Jeannette Frahm of Streator has earned Illinois Valley Community College’s 2014 Support Staff Distinguished Service Award and was recognized April 25 at the 18th Annual Employee Recognition event at Grand Bear Lodge.
Frahm is the IVCC Ottawa Center Coordinator and has been employed full-time with the college for 13 years.
Other nominees were: Tracie Klieber, fitness center instructor; Marlene Merkel, administrative assistant, humanities, fine arts and social sciences; Kelly Obermiller, former bookstore textbook buyer; and Frances Whaley, head librarian and library instruction coordinator.
Frahm began her career at IVCC in 2000 as the full-time secretary to career education and continuing education and external learning.
She became the Ottawa Center coordinator in 2012 and has taught several courses during her tenure.
Frahm has also served as a GED examiner/proctor, completed the 15 hours of volunteer tutor training for the I-READ adult literacy program, and has served on several committees and teams.
College employees are nominated for the recognition award by co-workers who recognize their outstanding contributions and submit an application.
