The Illinois Valley Community College Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Gene Montgomery, will be in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2 in IVCC’s Cultural Centre. The event is free and open to the public.
The afternoon’s performance will include the music of Franz von Suppe, Claude T. Smith, Leroy Anderson, Camille Saint-Saens, Brian Balmages, Alfred Reed, Lerner and Lowe, and John Philip Sousa.
Performers include IVCC students, local and regional music educators, and community instrumentalists dedicated to the promotion of quality wind and percussion music. The ensemble has performed for off-campus community presentations, conference festivals, joint concerts with university and community bands and twice has been invited to perform for the Illinois Music Educators Music Association All-State Conference.
