If interested in working in manufacturing and think you would like to find a job after just one semester
of study at IVCC, the Certified Production Technician Certificate Program is for you.
The program has been officially approved by the Illinois Community College Board. This fall semester is the first time the CPT program has been offered and it currently has seven students enrolled, according to Jennifer Scheri.
The CPT Web site states that the program is for “all entry-level production workers in all sectors of
manufacturing, and it is the only certification for production workers that is ANSI accredited under ISO Standard 17024.”
Thirteen local district managers are endorsing employment for graduates of the program at their work places and are offering entry level salaries ranging from $11-$19.
Some examples of those employers are the American Nickeloid Co. in Peru, Hart Electric in Lostant, Maze Nails in Peru, and Sabic Innovative Plastics in Ottawa.
If interested in finding out additional information, students can attend a meeting in room CTC- 124 on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. or Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. This meeting room is in the new building.
