The officers and faculty advisors of Sigma Kappa Delta chapter Mu Alpha look forward to a great year at IVCC!
SKD is the national English honor society for two-year colleges that promotes English through fun activities. Membership is available to those who have at least 12 credit hours, a 3.3 GPA, and a B average in English.
This year, the faculty advisors are Kim Radek, Delores Robinson, and Adam Oldaker, and the officers are Georgia Farris, Kelly McDonough, and Ali Braboy.
The invitation letters were mailed out Friday, Aug. 30, to those students who might qualify. Qualified students can find an application for membership at IVCC’s Web site under Clubs and
Organizations.
This past year, SKD sponsored the eagLITs Book Club, which meets monthly and is open to all students; attended two plays, “Julius Caesar” at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in Chicago and “Macbeth” at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival in Bloomington-Normal; and sent a student and faculty advisor to the 2013 SKD International Conference in Portland, Ore.
This year, advisors and officers plan to sponsor fundraisers, charity events (specifically, for the 2nd Hand Ranch and Rescue in Princeton and the Save the Girls Charity), eagLITs, and a field trip to a theatrical performance. SKD also hopes to send more people to the 2014 SKD International Conference in Savannah, Ga.
Meeting dates and times will be posted soon to Blackboard and sent through email.
