Are you ready to graduate from IVCC at the end of the Spring semester? If you think that you might be eligible for a degree or certificate, you must apply for graduation in order to have it posted to your academic record and to receive a diploma.
The deadline to apply for Spring graduation is Friday, Feb. 15. There is no fee to apply for graduation; however, there is a one page form to complete. This form is available in the Office of Admissions and Records (Room C-211) and on the college website at www.ivcc.edu/admissions. The form takes a couple of minutes to complete and lets college officials know that you will be ready to graduate in May.
If you are unsure as to whether or not you are eligible at this time for a degree or certificate, you are highly encouraged to speak with a counselor by calling 815-224-0360. A counselor can review your academic record and your program of study to determine if you have all of the requirements to graduate. Another option to determine your eligibility is to review your degree audit on your personal WebAdvisor account.
Admission representatives said an important point to remember is if you are within two classes of graduation and you plan to complete those classes in the summer session, you can participate in the commencement ceremony in May. All you need to do is fill out a graduation application by Feb. 15 and check Summer graduation on the form.
At IVCC, there are a number of Associate in Applied Science degrees that have corresponding Certificates which students can earn along the way. If students think that they have the requirements fulfilled for a Certificate, they may want to apply for graduation so their academic records will show progress toward the degree.
The college has one commencement ceremony, which will be on Saturday, May 18. All students who have graduated in the past year are invited to participate in the commencement ceremony. There is no fee to participate in the ceremony.
Any questions about graduation can be directed to Karen Gregorich in the Admissions and Records office at 815-224-0444.
