A number of events have been scheduled for Black History Month, which is observed in February.
“Being Black in the Illinois Valley” will be presented from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 in the Fireplace Lounge. The guest speaker is Yulandist Brown.
A free Soul Food Buffet will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the cafeteria. Students are invited to try traditional African-American cuisine.
A Jazz Music and Lindy Hop Demonstration will be held in conjunction with the Soul Food Buffet on Feb. 15.
Another event is “Inspired by the Dream: Dreams of our Students,” which will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 in the Fireplace Lounge. Students from the Black Student Association will share information.
The events are sponsored by the IVCC Diversity Team, Black Student Association and Student Government.
