Two shows are planned for the fall semester from the IVCC Theatre Department.
Bottom’s on First
A staged reading with a definite aim towards laughter and a bit of silliness, “Bottom’s on First” is a mix tape mashup of wordplay, vaudeville pacing, a wee bit of Shakespeare, Abbot and Costello, and even Shel Silverstein thrown in the mix.
An ensemble cast delivers little known Shakespearian insults, some internet trolls, slightly skewed takes on the Bard, and even a pesky referee here and there.
Written by new IVCC faculty member Dale J. Young, “Bottom’s” is a reminder that laughter is one of the best tools.
The show, directed by Young, is suitable for most ages. Chad Brokaw serves as producer and technical director.
Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18 with a 2 p.m. show Sunday, Oct. 19 in the Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.
An all-student ensemble cast includes:
Tyler Bienemann
Tobias Burkey
Isaac Fletcher
Phillip Goodale
Hope Loza
Matthew Masters
Sarah Masters
Proof
In David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony winning “PROOF,” Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician.
Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father’s.
A burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness—or genius—will she inherit?
The show is considered PG-13 with a bit of language and adult discussions/relationships.)
Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 20-22 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.
The show is directed by Dale J. Young and produced and technically directed by Chad Brokaw.
Most of the cast is composed of students, including:
Phoebe Kammer – Catherine
Eleanor Radtke – Claire
Alex Stafford – Hal
Community member Joe Ennenbach has the role of Robert. Ennenbach also is an IVCC alumnus.
