The IVCC Fine Arts group presents their newest production Terror in the Aisles. The show revolves around multiple eerie stories told onstage by the IVCC student cast. “This is not a usual show for us,” director Don Grant Zellmer says, “The stories are brought to life and each one is very different.” 

In the past, the IVCC Fine Arts group has involved community members, but this show is entirely populated by students. A few cast members are returning students, but the rest are entirely new. Along the making of this show, there have been efforts to figure out each individual’s talent and everybody brings something to the table. Trica Kelly adds “They’re easily moldable and willing to learn.”

The cast is in very good hands thanks to their experienced mentors. The stories are written by David Kuester (published playwright) and Tricia Kelly (tour director of the Hegeler Carus Mansion/professional storyteller). Kelly is familiar with telling stories every day, keeping people in suspense, and being able to change with an audience due to 18 years of tour guiding. This show is especially exciting because, for her, “24/7 is Halloween!” Don Grant Zellmer (director) has a background in theatrical ‘showbiz’ across the country. In regard to directing this show, Zellmer says, “This works best for me if I do it organically.”

Chad Brocaw (technical coordinator) shared that new lighting equipment has been installed in time for Terror in the Aisles. “New lighting equipment is a big deal!” Zellmer says, “It’s really exciting for us!” New lighting opens up an entirely new dimension to create mood, more color, and rich texture. For this show, it enhances the many other special effects being used as well, like fog machines.

Terror in the Aisles has seen many incarnations, and all seemed to have a great response. To join the fun, visit IVCC’s Weeg Cultural Center for ONE NIGHT ONLY on October 28th at 7:30 pm.
