If someone told you that you were going to die what would you do? What if that voice was that of someone narrating your life? This is the exact situation in which IRS Auditor Harold Crick finds himself in Stranger Than Fiction. After leading an exceedingly mundane and routine laden life, Crick’s life begins to be narrated and he discovers that he is the main character in a new book by renowned author Karen Eiffel. Harold begins a quest, with the help of literature professor Jules Hilbert to try to discover his fate and how, if possible he can avoid it. Along the way, he actually discovers love, heartbreak, and freedom.
This film offers an interesting take on the power of storytelling and the worlds which storytellers build. It offers a truly amazing cast and is a great watch.
Stranger Than Fiction was directed by Marc Foster and stars Will Ferrel, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, and Queen Latifa.
