‘IT’ rates high in scenery, dialogue
September 21, 2017
The movie “IT” was incredible and is one of my favorite movies of all time. The movie has a run time of two hours and 15 minutes. It is jam packed with great dialogue and large scenery.
“IT” is set in 1989 and the town shows a couple of cool references to the times. Most of the main characters of the film are children and all have their own individual personalities and unique back stories.
Throughout the film, they made almost all good choices and reasonable choices considering it was a horror movie.
Pennywise the clown, who is the antagonist, was fun to watch and surprised me a lot.
But my least favorite part of the film is Pennywise’s voice. It came off more shrill and happy than scary and horrifying but the special effects made up for it.
The film had a great opening scene filled with dread and memorable quotes and a horrendous act of violence. It was more suspenseful than I thought it would be!
The horror of the film was brought about from all the terrible situations they were put in. The characters all have their own unique burdens to bear and it is neat to see how they face them.
Overall, I think this is a great film with great characters and a great original story. I say this is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys scary movies, gore or coming of age films.
Also, for those Stephen King fans, this is probably one of his best book-to-film adaptations I have seen, other than “Stand by Me” and “The Green Mile.”
I would give this film four clowns out of five.
