The Eagles volleyball team has started off the season with three straight losses, but the team hopes to turn that around when they return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 vs. Moraine Valley in the IVCC gymnasium.

The Eagles lost 25-19, 25-18, 25-18 to Lincoln in their season opener
at home on Aug. 24. Sophomore Kayte Bernardoni gave them the lead in the first match. After a run by Lincoln, St. Bede graduate Hanna Bima and Fieldcrest alum Emma Lohr-Fandel both picked up kills to bring the score to 21-16. The second and third matches belonged to Lincoln as the Eagles failed to communicate.

Bernardoni and Lohr-Fandel led in kills at 7 and 5, respectively. Freshman Savannah Dean led in in assists at 12 and freshman
Grace Honlotes led in digs at 8.

The team then dropped two more matches in the Aug. 26-27  tournament at Kankakee.

The Eagles return two other sophomores this year — Cierra Johnson and Haley Duncan from La Salle-Peru Township High School.

Another sophomore on the squad Michelle Reese is from St. Bede Academy and she did not play with the Eagles last year.

In addition to the home contest on Sept. 1, the Eagles host a home games at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 vs. Joliet.
