Transfer application deadlines approaching

Deadlines are quickly approaching. Many universities are now past their preferred filling periods for their college and major programs. Some students, myself included, are anxiously awaiting the simple yes or no answer that will change our lives for next two to four years and well beyond. Within the next month, most students who filled an application with their respective colleges, will be notified. This time can be extremely stressful, nerve-wracking, and can make a student question every little thing written in the personal essay.

No need to worry, if you are hoping to transfer to a four-year university in the fall it is not too late to apply. For some students, the hardest decision is yet to come: which college should I choose?

Being accepted to multiple universities can be just as overwhelming. Making a list of pros and cons would be a great place to start in your decision-making process. Some topics to include are location, price, size of the school, scholarships available, security of college town, and accreditation and success of program. When it comes down to it, taking trips to the college can be beneficial. Sitting in on classes, meeting professors and counselors, and talking with other students gives insight of what the college has to offer.

For those of you who have made your final decision, congratulations! This is a very exciting time in your life and you should be proud of your accomplishments. Be proud to be a part of IVCC and remember all the hard work that has gotten you to where you are today. For those of you still deciding, I wish you all the best! Remember, this is your decision. Parents and peers often try to influence your decision, but it’s your future. I hope that you find the most suitable college for you!
