IVCC and Illini Valley Association of Realtors host blood drive

Aelsa Butler, IV Leader Co-Editor-in-Chief

Due to a shortage in winter blood donation, IVCC and the Illini Valley Association of Realtors will be hosting an American Red Cross (ARC) blood drive on Jan. 19 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. in IVCC’s gym.

The ARC is responsible for 40 percent of America’s donated blood and donations have not been coming in as quickly as products are being distributed. There is a need for donations of all blood types.

Individuals over the age of 17 (or over 16 with parental consent), who weigh at least 110 pounds and who are in generally good health could be eligible donors. Donors should bring either a photo ID, blood donor card or two other forms of ID.

Interested parties can contact IVCC instructor and ARC volunteer Steve Swett at (815) 224-0232 to make an appointment or visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass for information.
