Following are profiles on the 2015 SGA candidates:

Kaitlin Raineri
Position: Programming Board
Major: International Business
High School: LaSalle-Peru
Age: 20
Why are you seeking office?
I am seeking office because I believe that it is important to be involved in a school community, especially as a leader. I want to help bring a positive change to IVCC and the students.
What are your goals, if elected?
If elected, I hope to help in the development of relationships between students and strengthen the sense of community at IVCC through events and activities that the IVCC Student Government plans. I also hope to help in strengthening IVCC by working alongside other students, faculty, and the administration.

Austin Burnette
Position: Student Trustee
Major: Political Science
High School: Mendota
Age: 19
Why are you seeking office?
I am running because I feel that many students are underrepresented and unaware of the impact that both the Student Government Association and Board of Trustees’ policies have on the daily lives of students. Serving the student body by being their active and persistent voice is my priority.
What are your goals, if elected?
If elected, I plan to advocate for the examination of alternative sources of revenue (such as grants or sponsorships) in order to prevent any unnecessary tuition hikes. I also hope to encourage further student participation, including the advancement of communication between students, faculty, and administration with regards to proposed policy changes, upcoming events, and general issues facing IVCC government.

Monica Leonard
Position: Sophomore Representative
Major: Supply Chain Management
High School: Mendota
Age: 19
Why are you seeking office?
Charisma has been one of my favorite characteristics, and I believe that communication is a valuable skill with which I can best represent the student body.
What are your goals, if elected?
Increase awareness of extracurricular activities and help students transition into college better.

Becca Herrmann
Position: President
Major: Undecided
High School: Hall
Age: 18
Why are you seeking office?
I’m seeking office to maintain the current standards of the Student Government Association and to represent the needs of IVCC students.
What are your goals, if elected?
Bubble soccer, to ease the transition for new students, and to provide more social outlets for students.

Travis Sauers
Position: Sophomore Representative
Major: Nuclear Engineering
High School: Streator
Age: 18
Why are you seeking office?
I am seeking the sophomore representative seat not only to make a difference in the IVCC community but also to gain some experience in working with others to achieve a goal. I also believe being a part of the student government will give me the opportunity to express my opinion and give my share of ideas to improve IVCC.
What are your goals, if elected?
If I am elected into office I hope to improve the activity and participation in student-driven events by creating more daily activities and events throughout IVCC.

Adam Skoff
Position: Vice President
Major: Chemical Engineering
High School: Alamo Heights
Age: 19
Why are you seeking office?
In student-operated organizations, I believe it is important to both the school and the individual who is elected to give a voice to the student body. By staying involved with many IVCC organizations already, such as STEM club, the Honors Program, Student Ambassador, etc., I feel that I can give students the voice they deserve as V.P.
What are your goals, if elected?
My goals consist of collaborating with the fellow members of the student government program, identifying the issues that students want to address through public surveys, and finding ways to appropriately go about changing or modifying what’s asked of a V.P.

Katie Destri
Position: Vice President
Major: Business
High School: Hall
Age: 19
Why are you seeking office?
I am seeking office to be more involved with my college experience at IVCC and know about the events going on.
What are your goals, if elected?
One of my goals is to be able to get bubble soccer to come to our school. It would be a fun event for the students. Another goal would be to get more students to attend games at IVCC and show support for our athletes by hosting events to try and raise our school spirit.

Erick Gonzalez
Position: Student Trustee
Major: Civil Engineering
High School: Streator
Age: 19
Why are you seeking office?
I’m seeking office to contribute to IVCC with my time, as well as get experience in real world debating, voting, and discussing. Given my prior experience, I think I would fit into the position with minimal help.
What are your goals, if elected?
If elected, the main goals I have are to attend every meeting, represent IVCC in a professional manner, and learn as much as I can from the experience.
